About AJC Atlanta

Educate, Advocate, Engage ... Building Bridges of Understanding

Atlanta Chapter, founded in 1944, has dedicated itself to building bridges of understanding and mutual trust within the Jewish and general communities of Atlanta.  A non-profit organization, the Atlanta Chapter not only advocates a diverse and tolerant view of religion and ethnicity, but also actively promotes a pluralistic mindset through its outreach to the community and leadership role in interfaith, interethnic, international and intra-Jewish affairs in metro Atlanta.

ACCESS, our young adult division, is a vibrant part of the Chapter and provides leadership development, networking, stimulating outreach programs and hands-on volunteer service.  The Atlanta Chapter is recognized for its diverse programs designed to enhance Jewish learning and identity as well as numerous interfaith and interethnic activities. ACCESS strives to advance human and civil rights, combat terrorism and aid in the pursuit of a peaceful Middle East. This organization, founded in Atlanta, has recently been adopted as AJC’s international model for engaging young adults.

Most importantly, the Atlanta Chapter of AJC views itself as an instrument through which members of the community can better shape the world of future generations.

AJC’s Mission

  • To strengthen the basic principles of pluralism, as the best defense against anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry and hatred.
  • To enhance the quality of American Jewish life and American Jewish identity by helping to ensure Jewish continuity and sustainability, and deepen ties between American and Israeli Jews.

AJC, founded in 1906, is an organization that takes action on both a national and international scale.  Originally created as a way to protect Jewish populations in danger by fostering relationships with other communities, AJC continues its century of leadership through the promotion of pluralistic and democratic societies where all minorities are protected.  With current AJC operations in 32 U.S. and eight overseas offices, AJC has launched the 21st century with fervor.  AJC’s key areas of focus are:
