2004 Archives

2004 in review:

2004 began with the Atlanta chapter arranging a group screening of “The Passion of the Christ” followed by an interfaith discussion of the film. A week later, AJC followed-up its interfaith screening with a program about the film geared toward the Atlanta Jewish Community. Over 500 people came out to hear Rabbi Jim Rudin’s (AJC’s Senior Advisor for Interreligious Affairs) response to the film. Later in the year, AJC reacted to Cynthia McKinney’s congressional race, because she had previously made anti-Semitic remarks in 2002.

During the year, AJC was very involved politically helping to secure an Eruv for three synagogues in the Virginia-Highlands Area. In addition, they held a seminar co-sponsored by The Temple where ten diverse Atlanta Jewish Leaders discussed “What Being Jewish Means to Me”. At the end of 2004, The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival held a special screening of Paper Clips for the Atlanta Jewish Community.
