2000 in Review:
2000 was the inaugural year of the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival. Twenty-three films were screened over eight days at four locations. It was a tremendous success, with over two thousand tickets purchased, and helping to express AJC’s message of “Building Bridges of Understanding” throughout the city.
Pluralism was a major focus through 2000 as the Atlanta Chapter continued its relationships with different interfaith and interethnic organizations. Members of AJC’s Black-Jewish Coalition attended Shabbat services at The Temple, attended a Black-Jewish Seder, and Black and Jewish young leaders participated in Marvin C. Goldstein Project Understanding Retreat. AJC met with Hispanic Leader, Sam Zamarripa, and Josephine Tan, President of the Chinese Community Center, and the Catholic Archbishop to discuss advocacy within each of their communities.
