About Axum
Named after the famed city and kingdom in Africa (where some believe the Ark of the Covenant resides), Axum mixes the influences of its members' ancient ancestral roots in Ethiopia with the sounds of their present (and equally ancient) birthplace and home, Israel.  The result is an unforgettable union of hip hop, dancehall and reggae, making Axum one of the hottest musical acts in Israel today.  To check out some of Axum's music, click here

AJMF LogoAbout DubConscious
Describing itself as "a unique world music psychedelic dub/reggae collective," Athens, Georgia's DubConscious has become one of the most sought after world music acts on tour today.  The band has graciously offered to provide backup music for Axum before performing a set of their own later in the evening.  For more information on DubConscious, please visit its webpage

Special Thanks  to Hillels of Georgia, the Consulate General of Israel, Morehouse College, and to our event co-chairs, Toniqua Hay, Sho Watson and Jarrod Jordan.  Special thanks also to Russell Gottschalk of the Atlanta Jewish Music Festival and to the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, whose generosity has allowed Axum to show the world that yes, there is amazing hip hop, reggae and dancehall coming out of Israel today.
