AJC Atlanta enjoys close relations with Atlanta’s thriving Islamic community. Every year, the AJC works with the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta to promote tolerance and understanding of Islam and American Muslims. Most recently, representatives of religions from all across Fulton County, including the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta, Georgia Equality and AJC Atlanta's Dov Wilker, gathered with members of the LGBTQ community to show solidarity in the wake of the Orlando massacre. The meeting was called for by Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves, and hosted by the Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta. Click here to read the full article. Following that event, AJC Atlanta was invited by Commissioner Eaves and the Al-Farooq Masjid for an interfaith iftar. We look forward to continuing this dialogue and collaboration with fellow Muslims and members of other faiths.
AJC Atlanta was one of the first organizations to condemn the vandalism of a Fulton area Islamic center. AJC also maintains an Arabic language website, aslalyahud.org, and promoting relations with the Islamic world was the main subject of AJC’s Global Forum 2013, which featured, among others, Saudi religious scholars and Egyptian political activists.
