The Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) Movement seeks to generate pressure on the Israeli economy and government in order support Palestinian interests. However, the movement is actually an obstruction toward peace because it discourages rational negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian leaders and strives to delegitimize the state of Israel as the Jewish homeland. The long and strenuous process toward peace between Israelis and Palestinians does not need vindictive boycotts. It needs understanding and joint cooperation, which are two things BDS drives us further away from.
AJC is proud to sponsor the Governors United Against BDS campaign, which urges all fifty governors in the United States to sign the pledge to condemn the movement rooted in anti-Semitism and push for legislation that opposes it. Governors across the country have joined this bipartisan campaign in order to reaffirm their support for Israel.
